Lakewood’s Book Sale was a Huge Success
Lakewood Manor hosted its First Annual Book Sale to benefit the Junior League of Richmond on April 11 - 12, 2008. The Book Sale raised $1,275 and approximately 2,000 books were sold! It was a great accomplishment for a first time event.
All proceeds went to the Junior League of Richmond’s community programs to help further literacy in the greater Richmond area. Lakewood was pleased to partner with the Junior League which has been serving the needs of the Richmond area for over 80 years.
"Lakewood had a great response from the community’s donation of books and could not have had such a successful event without the community’s support of this event," said Holly Raidabaugh, Director of Marketing for Lakewood. Approximately, 10,000 books were donated to Lakewood’s Book Sale. After the event, Lakewood donated the remaining books to SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now), Read Aloud Virginia, The Senior Center, Southside Child Development Center and Henrico County Mental Health Department.
Raidabaugh expressed appreciation for the individuals and groups who helped spread the word and donated books for the Book Sale and said that Lakewood looks forward to the next year’s Book Sale.
